Tis the season of pumpkin spice lattes, colorful leaves, and bon fires. It is also a special time of year where I like to celebrate the autumnal equinox! Summer is always a blast, but as a south Texan I am never sad to see it go. The first day of fall marks an end to our suffering in the south. It means I can finally enjoy being outdoors without risking death by heatstroke. The other great thing is that it’s almost time for Halloween and Thanksgiving!
On a metaphysical level this time of the years signals the descent into the dark half of the year. It marks the arrival of a period of rest, reflection, and conservation. I like to honor the energy of this season to reflect on my year’s progress and adjust as needed. I am also using the energy of this time to clear out what’s no longer contributing to my progression.
To honor the season last year, I burned cinnamon candles, and baked a loaf of honey wheat bread. This year I kept it simple and made a playlist to celebrate the autumnal equinox. If you’re wondering “How can I celebrate the autumnal equinox?” here’s a short playlist to help.
