“The Opposite of Loneliness” by Marina Keegan
This book is a collection of posthumous essays by the author. I haven’t read a single piece of her writing and I am already inspired. At the time of her death, she was a recent Yale graduate with her entire life before her. Before she could change the world with her works it all cut short in a car crash.
“Emily Post’s Etiquette, 19th Edition: Manners for Today” by Lizzie Post and Daniel Post Senning.
Our society is fast-paced, and sort of informal now. We are all victims of it. While Some etiquette tips are classic, others no longer apply in our digital age. I don’t plan to be the Queen of Etiquette but I feel it’s good to update my knowledge on the subject. There is nothing worse than bad manners.
“Mules and Men” by Zora Neale Hurston
This book was a gift from Tammy Maywald of Blends of the Bayou. The work is a collection of black American folklore from Florida and Louisiana. Southern culture is often overlooked, so I can appreciate this beautiful soul for documenting what’s quickly being forgotten.
“The Great Cosmic Mother” by Monica Sjoo and Barbara Mor
This book is thick! I have only scratched the surface of its pages. In an instant, I fell through the mists of time to a pre-Christian world where the ancients believed God to be a woman. This book is 100% a fiery feminist read. It is not for the faint of heart.
Happy reading!
